There will be an URGENT BMFR ZOOM Family meeting for all family members, again all family members no matter your age in reference to the 52nd and future BMFRs. We need your input, ideas and suggestions about what you want to do as a family and suggestions proceeding forward. We are looking at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina as a temporary location for the 52nd, 53rd-54th Reunion.

Hello again Family,

Our 51st family reunion is getting closer and closer. Here is some additional
info to help you make preparations.

Fish Fry
Our annual Friday afternoon fish fry will take place at Mayo Lake Park in Roxboro (1013 Neals Store Rd, Roxboro, NC 27574). This site is approximately 50 minutes from the reunion hotel (Hampton Inn & Suites/North I-85, 1542 North Gregson Street, Durham, NC 27701). A 55- passenger bus will be available to transport out-of-town guests from the hotel to the park and back. The bus will leave the hotel no later than 3pm in order to get to the park by 4pm. For those who are traveling and would like to utilize the bus transportation, please plan to arrive at the hotel by early afternoon Friday. Of course, a Thursday arrival would be even better (hint, hint). Reserve your hotel room as soon as possible. The cut-off date to get the reunion rate of $165 per night is June 25th.

Registration
You can pre-register for the 51st reunion now via the family reunion website (www.bmfr.org) or by mailing your completed registration form and fee ($100) to Lauryetta Gentry (389 Green Meadow Ln. Roxboro, N.C. 27574). Online registrants can also mail your registration fee or pay via CashApp ($LauryettaGentry). Pre-registration ends June 25th. In person registration will begin Friday, July 26th at the reunion hotel from 10am-2pm. It will continue at Mayo Lake Park after 2pm.

T-shirts
Reunion T-shirts are now available. They feature our theme for this year, “Solid As A Rock,” which is a tribute to our family unity as well as the host city of Roxboro. In purchasing this year’s shirt, you will also be participating in one of North Carolina’s greatest rivalries. Of course, you have heard of the Duke vs. UNC rivalry, but there is another rivalry that is just as heated, especially among your N.C. family members: the Aggies of N.C. A&T State University vs. the Eagles of N.C. Central University. The 51st reunion T-shirts will be available in Aggie colors (blue and gold) and Eagle colors (maroon and gray). Pick one to show which side you have pride in! If you just don’t know which side you should be on, then you are welcome to buy a shirt in both color schemes, or pick the one you like best and your N.C. family members will let you know if you picked right.

T-shirts are $20 each for all sizes. No T-shirt orders will be taken after the pre-registration deadline of June 25th . Payments must be received before orders are made.

Banquet
The attire for our Saturday Banquet is Brunch Chic (we looked it up). We want you to be cute, classy, colorful, and comfortable as we celebrate our roots together. For example: maxi dresses, sundresses, sun hats, sandals, wedges, polo-style shirts, button-ups, khaki shorts, casual slacks, fedoras, casual shoes. Please no formal wear, denim, athletic wear, tennis shoes, suits, ties, or black.

Please help us share this info with all of our family members so that we can have a huge turn out this summer. Thanks and we can’t wait to see you in the Rock.

Hello Family,

With great excitement we are preparing to host the 51st Boyd/McCormick Family Reunion in Roxboro, N.C. from Thursday July 24 through Sunday July 28, 2024.

Roxboro has been a second home to the Boyd/McCormick family. It was the site of the 3rd reunion in 1976, and within its first 20 years, the Reunion was held in Roxboro a total of three times, which is tied with Columbia, S.C. and the greater Chicago area for the most in that timespan. But the BMFR has not returned to this quaint community since 1993. So with a bit of old school charm, we want to remind everyone from whence we have come, while also celebrating how far we have come.

Roxboro/Person County is known for its lakes and parks, so our Friday afternoon fish-fry will be lakeside. The park we have selected offers indoor and outdoor amenities, making it a great place for field games as well as a nice cool place to relax. Saturday’s dining experience will blend the old with the new in one of Roxboro’s most prominent and important locations. And on Sunday morning we will worship the Lord together in one of the many deeply rooted, spiritually rich, old country churches that hold this community together. In-between times, we are simply going to enjoy one another.

For the convenience of out-of-town travelers, lodging will be at Hampton Inn & Suites Durham/North I-85 (1542 North Gregson Street Durham, North Carolina 27701). This hotel is situated on exit 176 from Interstate 85 and is a short drive from RDU International Airport and Durham Amtrack Station. Additionally, it sits along the stretch of road that leads directly into Roxboro. Reservations can be made now under the group name: Boyd/McCormick Family Reunion. Available room types are 1 King bed or 2 Queen beds, all at the rate of $165 per night from Thursday July 24 through Sunday July 28, 2024. For those making reservations online, a booking link will be posted to our Facebook group page and website, www.bmfr.org.

The reunion registration fee is $100 per adult (18 years old and over). On the reunion registration form, please list the number of children who will be attending with you and their ages.
